Hi, I’m Maria-Eugenia Ricote—a narrative therapist, community mental health professional, and facilitator. My work is driven by curiosity and reverence for the stories people carry—the ones that shape their identities, relationships, and sense of self.
When you seek my support, I walk alongside you with genuine interest in your experiences, listening for the skills, knowledge, and values that may have been obscured by struggle. Together, we will explore and re-author the stories that hold meaning for you, making space for your voice, your agency, and your hopes.
I strive to create a compassionate and collaborative space—one that honours and witnesses your stories with care. Here, you will be listened to, validated, and respected. It is often through uncovering alternative storylines that people reconnect with the strengths and wisdom that have always been present, even in the face of hardship.
I consider it a privilege and a gift to be entrusted with the stories of those who seek therapy with me. I hope that my listening, thoughtful questions, and letter writing will support you in re-authoring your life in ways that reflect your values, dreams, and preferred ways of being.
And something else about me . . .
I was born and raised in Venezuela, though my family roots and traditions are deeply tied to Spain. My journey has taken me across Madrid, Spain and Pittsburgh, PA, before I eventually settled in Canada in 2008—a place I now call home.
Beyond my work, I find joy and grounding in many pursuits. You’ll often find me hiking along forest trails, embracing the flow of yoga, or feeling empowered through strength training. I also love getting lost in a good book, savouring the richness of coffee, and piecing together puzzles that challenge my mind. When the weather calls, you’ll find me gardening with my hands in the soil, soaking in the peacefulness of lake life, or gliding across the water in my kayak, where I feel most connected to nature.
