A THERAPEUTIC PATHWAY: Story, Care & Connection

What Does Narrative Therapy Offer?

We begin a journey of shared exploration, where I walk alongside you in making sense of the stories that have shaped your life and relationships. Together, we will trace the influences, meanings, and contexts in which these stories were authored. Through narrative therapy, you are invited to reclaim your voice and step into the role of author and expert in your own life—living in ways that reflect your values, hopes, and preferred possibilities.

Narrative therapy honours and elicits memories of times when you have stood up to the problems in your life—moments of resistance, courage, and defiance. It offers space to move away from problem-saturated stories and toward preferred narratives that reflect who you are and what you stand for.

Grounded in a socio-political lens, narrative therapy recognizes that problems do not exist in isolation—they are influenced by broader cultural, systemic, and social forces. It is more concerned with actions than behaviours, inviting reflection on the ways you respond to problems rather than being defined by them. Interpretations of what is considered “normal” are openly questioned, and standardized expectations that conflict with your values and principles are challenged. In this process, we map the richly layered stories of your life, exploring your values, ethics, and cherished beliefs.

Narrative therapy is a non-medical, non-pathologizing approach. While diagnoses may be part of your story, they are never the whole story. You are far more than any label or diagnosis. Narrative therapy invites you to draw on your own experiences, skills, and wisdom as you make meaningful decisions about how you want to live and author your life.

This collaborative approach supports individuals facing a range of struggles, including:

  • Feelings of despair, sadness, and hopelessness

  • Anxiety, confusion, and life uncertainty

  • Loneliness or a sense of disconnection

  • Loss and grief, including disenfranchised grief (such as divorce, miscarriage, or the loss of a pet)

  • Moments of transition—being at a crossroads and seeking clarity or direction

Through narrative therapy, we make space for you to reconnect with your qualities, values, and abilities, allowing you to author new possibilities that reflect your preferred self and chosen path.

Music-Integrated Therapy: Stories in Sound

Through musical experiences, I facilitate self-expression and connection in ways that extend beyond words. Music-Integrated Therapy (MIT) offers a creative, embodied pathway for exploring stories, emotions, and memories. It invites you to engage with yourself and others holistically, drawing on the evocative power of sound. Whether through listening, creating, or reflecting, MIT creates space for new meanings and possibilities to emerge. You do not need any musical background or abilities—your presence is the instrument, and your story is the song.

Where Narrative and Music Meet?

Narrative and Music-Integrated Therapies intersect in the shared territory of story—both approaches create spaces for growth, exploration, and restoration. Sometimes, stories that feel difficult to tell through words alone find their voice through music. A single lyric, melody, or rhythm can evoke memories of resistance, care, and resilience, making visible the qualities and skills that have sustained you.

In MIT, music becomes a companion in the re-authoring of your present, giving shape to preferred stories through sound and song. Whether through rhythm, melody, or voice, music can offer a language for emotions that words cannot always capture. The process invites you to explore and express your hopes, values, and dreams—whether through the spoken language of narrative therapy or the soundscapes of MIT, the focus remains on what is meaningful to you.

Music and narrative walk alongside one another—both honouring the richness of your experiences, both supporting you in crafting new and preferred possibilities.
